"Best Small Pet Vac I've Owned" 2009-06-13

I previously had a Dirt Devel, and it was not good. I took it apart to find that there is no direct drive belt to the sweeper. It only turns by air flow, and is very weak. This Eureka has a direct drive motor to drive the sweeper. This is the success to this little vac - the sweeper is a powerful little bugger!

It also has a crevace tool that is stored securely in the unit. The dirt cup and filter are also easy to empty and clean. Lastly, the flip top front, which I thought would be a useless gimmick, really helps to make it easy to clean the vertical parts of the carpeted stairs.

Buy this, and you won't be disappointed.

Very powerful little handheld, great for stairs and hard to reach spots. Clearly would be a 5 star item

EXCEPT...

We only used the thing every few months on our stairs and a couple other tight spots. Couldn't have had more than an hour or two of run time on the machine. The first time we used it after the end of the one year warranty, the motor let out all it's black smoke. It even left a stain on the carpet. I really expect products to last a bit longer than their warranty.

I had been looking for a small handheld vacuum for a very long time. I needed one that had great suction as I have 2 cats that love to leave their fur on the furniture. This one does the job!! Lightweight, easy to use, picks up lots of fur, dust, etc. Great for the stairs too.

I love this little hand vac! I have owned this for several months now and it is wonderful for vacuuming the carpeted stairs in our house. We have a dog and it works great to pick up the per hair. It is quiet in comparison to the Dirt Devil hand vac that we once had. It has a long cord and it is relatively light-weight. A great buy for the price!

I got it in November of 2006, and this little vacuum was pretty sweet. It did an awesome job on the stairs and the hose attachment was good for getting into some of the hard to clean areas around the house. I was always amazed to see how much "stuff" it was picking up off the floor. Kinda gross.

But, not all good things are meant to last apparently. In Feb of '08, this little guy died in a blaze of glory. The back end lit up like the Fourth of July and a bunch of sparks went flying out the back. 16 months after I had gotten it, it was dead.

However, because it did such a great job while I had it, I'm considering getting another one to replace it. That's why I'm giving it three stars instead of 1. When it works, its a 5-star product, but its short life knocks it down a couple of notches.

This vacuum works great on hard surface floors. I like how light weight and maneuverable it is and I can get it right up to the baseboards in the kitchen. Even my six year old likes to use it. The only downside is having to empty the yucky stuff I've collected out of it. I wouldn't recommend this for carpet.

We got this for our condo with new pergo floors and a chocolate puppy. We needed something that would pick up all her hair quickly and easily and this is the best choice we could have made. We are very happy with it's quick use and easy to store abilities. It picks up all the dog hair for us and even the occasional spill of food. We use it mostly on Pergo floors, but tile in the bathroom and kitchen as well. Doesn't work as great on carpet, but we bought it for the purpose of barefloors. Highly recommended for anyone looking to be able vacuum hardwood, pergo, or tile floors.

My Electrolux Ergorapido is sooo FANTASTIC.

OK,Mine does stand up on its own as well as in the charging unit. It arrived with all the pieces- if you can't find the attachments they are subtly positioned in the charging unit. The vacuum arrived charged and I used it that night without charging it first.

The handheld vacuum threw me a learning curve, LOL. I had trouble figuring out how to take the dust bowl from the unit. To save you the same embarrassment, when grasping both sides of the bowl (to press release buttons) pull UP.

The 2 handheld attachments are effective detail tools. I used them to clean my air cleaner filter, edged my kitchen, cat hair off my coat, and other random things. It worked splendidly every time.

After removing the dustbowl, and taking out the filter be sure to do it over the garbage can. You can rinse the filter under the tap and -- wait for it--- there is a doo-dad that allows you to pull the filter down to help remove larger clumps of hair/dust!! Wow!! I just LOVE that!

The vacuum as a whole is so light-- it was such a pleasure to vacuum my rugs with it. My rugs are black, so I could easily see what was being picked up. I was satisfied with the suction strength. It has two speeds and the head pivots, which really adds to the fun.

It is super classy and really fun to use. I used it vacuum some large area rugs and I was pleased with the amount of lint and cat hair it removed. I used it on my kitchen floor and it worked great.

The orange color has a shade of copper in it, but the copper is not obvious on the vacuum--its more of a suggestion. It is not construction orange, it is a classier color. It's not at all a coral, but in my opinion, it would not clash harshly with the coral color group. It has all shiny silver accents or dark grey. There are only those 3 colors on the entire unit.

I am delighted with my vacuum. I've had it a few days, but I have used it quite a bit, for about 10 minutes each time. I charged it overnight the first night, but not since then. I have no idea how long the charge will hold. I'm waiting for it the battery to completely empty before I charge it again, from zero so I can get a good idea of the battery life.

I recommend this-- it's pretty, it's easy to use, and makes vacuuming so easier.

I have a 1 yr old son and was getting tired cleaning up after him at mealtime (food thrown everywhere) so I purchased this cordless handheld/stick vacuum cleaner. I love it!! I use the hand held to vacuum the crumbs out of the highchair and the stick for the floor all around it (recommend emptying after use so that food doesn't rot inside). It sucks up everything from dirt to fruit to cheerios (with the exception on a leaf blocking the suction valve on the stick, which was as simple as pushing a button in the back and pulling out the rolling brush to remove). The stick swivels easily and effortlessly, it even cleans right up to the base boards. The charge station is awesome too, I don't have to play hide and seek for the cord hole, it just slides in and out of the station easily. The charge lasts a long time as well, I've yet to see the battery run out. I wouldn't recommend buying this item to use on carpet, but it works great for tile or hardwood, and especially for moms and dog owners!

I agree this is a very attractive and easy-to-use cordless vacuum. The detachable hand unit works very well. Just do not plan to use it on carpets. That is specifically what I bought it for: a large area rug and wall-to-wall on the stairs. It only moves forward, and not very easily. It will flip up if you try to do a back-and-forth motion. So that means either dragging it back towards you, or lifting the whole thing up and carrying it back towards you. I'm going to return it and see if another model doesn't have this problem.

I bought this realizing it wouldn't be as great as a full-sized vacuum for the purposes of cleaning my small room and the adjoining bathroom. I was pleasantly surprised when it surpassed my expectations! After giving the bathroom a once-over, I gasped at the amount that this thing picked up (...I was long overdue for a vacuum) and noted how spacious the dust cup was. This thing is lightweight, but almost too lightweight honestly; I wish the roller nozzle had a bit more weight on it so it would stay on the floor. One might also notice how short this vacuum is. As someone who's 6'5'', I had to bend a bit to use it, but I'm sure this won't be as much as a problem for others. On the other hand, the Eureka 4-in-1 can be easily stored. I've yet to use the other nozzle that came with it, but I'm sure it works just fine.

Bottom line, this is an excellent vacuum for the price.

I love the fact that it is lightweight, my 5 year old can even use it. It does a good job on the kitchen and hardwood floors. I can even use it on some of my carpets. However, it is extremely loud. The person vacuuming has to wear ear muffs and everyone else has to go into another room.

this is the best little vacuum ever! so tiny a lite it looks like a toy -- my grand kids can't use it enough and it picks up anything that isn't bigger than itself! it is noisy and the cord is short -- but who cares? it just makes them feel important rushing around vacuuming with all the noise -- worth several times it's cost : )

Bought this for kitchen crumbs. Had to sweep after every use. Clogged terribly. My son used to clean a studio apartment with brand new carpet and had to unclog the thing multiple times (the carpet wasn't 8ft x 8ft). We ended up using a dust buster on the carpet with better results. It was delegated to the trash within a month.

I purchased this vacuum when I got tired of lugging out the big vac to keep up with dog hair and kid crumbs. Sweeping just made things worse by making the dog hair fly around instead of helping.

So, solution...a lightweight cordless vac WITH a small duster for sofas. This vacuum has been perfect for our family. The battery lasts long enough (10-15 minutes) for me to relatively thoroughly clean the kitchen floor and then the other 3 rooms that are wood floors. The dog hair and crumbs are picked up between thorough floor cleanings which is exactly the thing I needed. The removeable "dustbuster" is perfect for crumbs and hair on furniture and in tighter corners. This vacuum is not meant to be the end all vacuum for your house. It is perfect for the 1-2 times a day you may want to keep doghair and crumbs in check. I leave this vacuum in the laundry room plugged is so it is always ready to go.

There is an unexpected added bonus...my boys LOVE to use it! It is the perfect weight and height (with the handle down) for kids! They get it out and put it away on their own. I rarely let them sweep with a broom because it just made more work for me, but now I have to keep them from fighting over it:)

So, if dog hair and dirt acculumate quickly in your house and you dread pulling out the big vac to keep up and sweeping frustrates you, this is the vacuum for you.

When you first get the vaccuum it needs to be charged for at least 24 hours. I let mine charge for two days and have not had a problem with it. I also leave it plugged in all the time cause I use it at least once a day. I have 3 dogs and hardwood floors so there is a lot of dog hair to clean up. It is so easy to take out this vaccuum and do spot cleaning. I like that it is handheld so I can easily do the stairs or clean my car. This won't take the place of your regular vaccuum but does great to quickly clean up floors and rugs.

I have the purple model given to me as a gift and I think it works great for what it is supposed to do. It is NOT meant as your one and only vaccuum. I have a Dyson for serious cleaning but with 2 kids and a dog I have to have something lightweight and quick to use for spilled crumbs and tracked in dirt. Perfect for those quick jobs on the floor and works better than expected on low-pile carpet. Plus since it is so lightweight I can carry it upstairs to our one bonus room - a Dyson is not easy to lug up stairs.

Cons: The dirt cup fills pretty quickly, but once again this is not a problem if it is only being used a minute at a time for "touch ups". I was disappointed the battery life does not last very long but I just know to charge it often so it is always handy. Nothing battery powered ever seems to last as long as it should.

I used to use my broom and dustpan several times a day and this has replaced that and given me a little extra power for rugs and stairs. I'm happy with it.

"The Quick-Up is MUCH better!" 2009-07-06

I bought this mainly to compare it to the $35 Quick-Up and decided that I like the QU better, it holds more before I notice the strain on the battery. The EasyClean is what another reviewer said: a dust buster on a stick. The dirt clings immediately to the end of the filter, blocking the suction. With the Quick-Up, there is more surface area to the filter and can be used longer between emptyings. I use my corded full-size vac to clean the filter of what it's picked up. The suction seamed weak at the handheld nozzle and, that being narrow, the main nozzle will not have enough concentrated suction to be effective on bare floors. My opinion, save your money, get the Quick-Up.

UPDATE: I returned this to the 'big box' store and bought the Hoover Platinum LiNX cordless and it performs flawlessly, check out the reviews on it. Warning, it is pricey. Otherwise, go for the Quick-Up. That 'big box' store for some reason decided to discontinue it but you can find it here at Amazon.com. Use a corded vac to clean the filter for best performance. Mine came with 2 batteries, the model number is mentioned in my review of the Quick-Up.

I also purchased the purple one at the red box store. After charging for the 14 hours recommended, I turned it on and immediately had problems with the power button. It has 3 settings - off - flat surface- carpet. It didn't want to kick on with the flat surface, but moving up to carpet booted it up and then I dialed it back to flat surface.

At first I was pleasantly surprised. It did great on the vinyl and hardwoods but when I tried to use it on the area rug, the carpet spinning brushes wouldn't engage. Didn't work on the rug at all. And it's a very low pile rug.

I took out the hand vac and used the crevice tool for my stairs and it didn't have any problems. Though the dust bunnies did tend to clog up the crevice tool which blocked the suction.

I was thinking this is going great when the battery died. I figured I got 15-20 minutes out of this battery. That's it. We'll see how long it lasts on the second charge.

For quick cleanups. It's ok. but it really is just a dust buster on a stick. You aren't getting a lot of power there and the battery time so far is very disappointing. You might do better having a corded stick vac (I like the Hoover S2220 Flair Bagless Upright Stick, though that one broke on me too) and a hand held vac.

It's a piece of junk. Suction opening poorly designed, so it doesn't pick up dirt well. Very difficult to put into and take out of the recharging base. Very poorly designed.

"Dust Bunnies and Fur Babies Only, Please" 2009-06-27

We have hardwoods and a big dog that molts twice a year (blows her coat) so this was purchased just to pick up the seasonal Fur Babies that congregate within hours of vacuuming. The battery has a very short life but I can hit all of the corners before it is finished. Does not pick up cat litter well at all. Fur fills the small cup quickly. The cup is easy to clean, but you do have to touch fuzzy contents. The toggle type power switch is distant, awkward and snaps into the "On" and "Off" position -- if you have small hands it may take both of them just to turn it on and/or off. The attached crevice tool is a nice feature. We have had several Handheld Vacs and know their many limitations, this one does do the job i purchased it for. I gave it 2 stars because of it's very light duty, weak suction, short battery life, and awkward design.
